Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is being released tomorrow in Japan, however the now infamous ‘No Russian’ level has also been edited by Square Enix. In the Japanese version if you shoot a civilian the game ends, if you shoot a terrorist the game ends. So although the kept the latter from the original it does mean that you will be walking around the airport like a prat whilst the npcs are blasting anything that moves. This is the same change that was made in the German release, so are the old Axis countries being punished by having a lengthy, drawn out and tedious 10 – 15 minutes?

So if you are a Japanese gamer and you’re going to buy a copy of Modern Warfare 2 tomorrow I’d advise you to turn off the explicit content so that you may enjoy the game rather than staring at it and waiting for the ability to actually play the game. Although standing around doing nothing did well for Half-Life so you never know, maybe they will enjoy it.
